Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American TV chef and former instructor in the Institute of Culinary Education. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Ann Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef and her signature spikey blonde locks and pump up appearance, offers easy techniques anyone can be able to master. Chef Burrell also has worked in several of the city's most prestigious restaurants, studied Italian cuisine and the traditions associated with it, and was a contestant on Food Network Iron Chef America. As a child in the region of upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for cooking and food from a young age. She pursued her love of working in the restaurant business by enrolling in The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every day." It was impossible to learn and do enough or put in the hours. When I graduated, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) and attended an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Her understanding grew of Italian tradition and food through her travels in Italy which has had an impact on the way she cooks. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten the lives of kids facing challenges. Additionally, she is a Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador in which she promotes awareness of the condition known as juvenile diabetes. In her role as a speaker, Burrell goes on a tour across the United States to talk about her love of cooking and food, as well as to talk about her profession in culinary. Anne said she felt lucky in that she could be able to share her passion for cooking with many others.
