Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

The birth of DuVernay's daughter was on the 24th of August, 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay received support from her Aunt Denise at the age of a little girl. DuVernay worked as an evening nurse in order to give her aunt to have the time she needed throughout her day time to enjoy the pleasures of literature, art as well as theatre. DuVernay instantly became enthralled after showing her the 1961 West Side Story film. DuVernay was taught by her that art can be an avenue for action. The summers she spent in Selma, Alabama would inspire her later to make a film about Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay was a graduate from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in 1990. After graduation, she studied in the University of California Los Angeles and earned degrees both in English as well as African American study. DuVernay started producing broadcast journalism at the age of a student. DuVernay began her career as an intern for CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembers being assigned to sit at the house of one member of the jury, and then look through their trash. Her tasks to complete left her unhappy and so, after deciding to not pursue the field of journalism, she was able to move into the industry of publicity. DuVernay was hired right out of college as an assistant publicist in the studio that was small. The DuVernay Agency is her first public relations agency.
